Biography:
Genivaldo dos Santos is a Master of Capoeira Angola, with a career that began in childhood (at the age of 10) and is deeply linked to the Afro-Brazilian culture of Bahia. For more than three decades, he has been working to preserve, transmit, and promote capoeira angola as a cultural, educational, and social practice.
His work goes beyond artistic performances: it involves training young people, community actions, and social projects, with emphasis on the Semear Angoleiros Project in Lauro de Freitas (BA), which offers capoeira classes, cultural workshops, and spaces for strengthening the identity, self-esteem, and social inclusion of vulnerable children and young people.
As a master, educator, and cultural coordinator, Genivaldo promotes the traditional knowledge, rhythms, songs, and ancestral values of capoeira angola, connecting tradition and modernity. He regularly participates in events, circles, workshops, and national and international exchanges, contributing to the dissemination of Bahian culture and the recognition of capoeira angola as cultural heritage and a symbol of resistance.
