CapoeiraHub Guide

This guide explains what each section of CapoeiraHub is for, how to search, and how to register your group, shop, project, workshop, or library content.

Who this guide is for

If you’re here to search

You can browse the Capoeira world without registering. Use search, map views, and category pages to find what you need.

  • Find groups worldwide and explore them on a global map.
  • Discover shops, projects, and workshops by location and keywords.
  • Explore people pages and visualize connections through the family tree.

If you want to register your work

Registering helps others find you. Your content becomes searchable, can appear on the map, and can connect to people and lineages.

  • Add a profile once and keep it updated (address, contacts, schedule, pricing).
  • Link your group/projects/workshops to mestres and teachers already in the database.
  • Add official payment or support links (PayPal, Venmo, Cash App) to help students support your work.

Account & privacy

To create or claim profiles, you need an account. This helps prevent spam and allows ownership transfer when a real person claims their profile.

What you provide when registering

  • Email (for login and essential notifications only).
  • Username (public, used for your account identity inside CapoeiraHub).

Privacy promise

We do not sell your information. Your email is not used for marketing and is not shared publicly. CapoeiraHub is built for the community, not for harvesting user data.

Community (People)

Community pages help document the people behind Capoeira: mestres, contramestres, professores, graduados, treinéis, and scholars/artists.

  • Mestres / Contra-Mestres / Professores / Graduados / Treinéis
  • Scholars & artists (researchers, writers, historians, cultural figures)
  • Each person page can connect to teachers and students, building a living map of lineage

Important: names must match to connect profiles

When adding teachers or students, type the names exactly as they exist in CapoeiraHub. Exact matching helps the system connect the lineage and show the right relationships in the family tree.

Claiming profiles & ownership transfer

  • If a person profile is about you, you can request to claim it. After verification, we can transfer ownership to your account.
  • If you have credible knowledge about a person’s history, you may also request to manage that profile to help improve accuracy.
  • The goal is to keep the database clean, community-driven, and respectful.

Family tree (graph) & search

When you search for a person, the family tree graph helps you visualize their connections — teachers above, students below, and related links across the network.

  • Searching a person highlights them in the family tree at the top of the page.
  • The family tree dynamically points to the person that matches your search criteria (when present in the database).
  • Filters can help you explore lineages and connections quickly.

Student filters

You can filter to find all students of a specific person. This is useful for lineage exploration, historical research, and discovering related groups or communities.

Groups

Groups are where students train. Registering a group makes it easier for people to find classes, learn who teaches there, and understand the style and lineage.

  • Groups become searchable by name, city, country, and keywords.
  • Groups appear on the global map after registration (based on your location).
  • Groups can be connected to a mestre and teachers to reflect lineage and credibility.

Important: matching mestre/teacher names

If the mestre (or teachers) already exist in the CapoeiraHub database, the name you type should match exactly so the app can connect the group to that person profile and show the relationship correctly.
