Biography:

Born in 1963 in Itabuna, Bahia, Brazil, Mestre Anastácio Marrom was first introduced to Capoeira at an early age. In 1976, he relocated to Rio de Janeiro, where he continued his Capoeira training and development.

In the early 1990s, his passion led him to explore and study Capoeira Angola, which marked the beginning of a significant journey in his martial arts career. During this period, he established meaningful connections with esteemed Masters, including Mestre Nô and Mestre Angolinha, cultivating friendships that persist to this day.

His dedication to Capoeira Angola brought him into contact with Mestre Gato Preto, Berimbau de Ouro da Bahia, a student of Mestre Cobrinha Verde, and the Master of Bateria at Mestre Pastinha's Academy. Along with Mestre Angolinha and Mestre João Grande, Mestre Gato Preto became a key figure and major influence in Mestre Anastácio Marrom’s life and teachings.

For the past 25 years, Mestre Anastácio Marrom has focused on Capoeira in the community at the foot of Morro da Babilônia, where he resides.

In 2020, he founded Casa Ngoma, a socio-cultural space dedicated to the study, practice, and promotion of Capoeira Angola within the Morro da Babilônia community. Casa Ngoma is a vibrant cultural and socio-educational initiative that encompasses Capoeira Angola as well as a variety of other activities tied to Afro-Brazilian culture, including the study of African and Afro-descendant history, literature, audiovisual production, instrument creation, and serves as a platform for reflection and debate.

The creation of Casa Ngoma was the result of collaboration between Mestre Anastácio Marrom and his students, made possible by the acquisition of land within the Babilônia community, where Mestre Marrom also established his residence.
