Origin
The Mukânda Capoeira Angola group was created in early 2021 by Contramestres Everson Leão (Mukânda Montpellier, France), Medusa (Mukânda Pisa, Italy), Toca and Treinela Kathi (Mukânda Berlin, Germany). They were all members of FICA (International Capoeira Angola Foundation) and disciples of Mestre Cobra Mansa.
When Mestre Cobra Mansa left FICA in December 2020, many groups linked to him also decided to leave the Foundation and follow a new path. This period began an intense restructuring process. Contramestres Everson Leão, Medusa, Toca and Treinela Kathi worked dedicatedly for months to create a group that sought to reflect the essence of Capoeira Angola, the lineage of Mestre Pastinha and the teachings and research of Mestre Cobra Mansa.
Although Mestre Cobra Mansa was not the founder of Mukânda, he was a fundamental technical and philosophical inspiration for the creation of the group. He also accompanied the entire
process of developing the name, logo and philosophy of the new group. This was so that they would capture and reflect, as much as possible, the depth and authenticity of Capoeira Angola
that we learned from him. In June 2023, Mestre Cobra Mansa officially became part of the Mukânda group and began the process of establishing a nucleus in Bonfim (Valença, Bahia).
