The result of Pedro Abib's doctoral thesis, this work investigates the ways in which popular culture articulates a vast field of knowledge and know-how, as well as the ways in which this knowledge is transmitted through certain categories, such as memory, orality, ancestry, rituality and temporality. For this task, capoeira angola was chosen as the field of study. The breadth of the approach, the unconventional treatment of the subject and the clarity of the exposition mean that the work is not restricted to academia or the educational field.
