Biographie :
He was born in 1963 in Itabuna, Bahia (Brazil), where he had his first contact with Capoeira. In 1976, he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he continued his Capoeira training. In the early 1990s, he began learning and studying Capoeira Angola. This led him to establish contacts with Masters such as Mestre Nô and Mestre Angolinha, forming a lasting friendship that continues to this day. Through his continuous search and study of Capoeira Angola, he met Mestre Gato Preto, Berimbau de Ouro da Bahia, a student of Mestre Cobrinha Verde, the Master of Bateria at Mestre Pastinha's Academy. Alongside Mestre Angolinha and Mestre João Grande, Mestre Gato Preto became one of the great references for Mestre Anastacio Marrom. Currently, for the past 25 years, Mestre Anastacio Marrom has been dedicated to Capoeira work at the foot of Morro da Babilônia, where he resides. In 2020, he opened Casa Ngoma, a socio-cultural space for the study, practice, and dissemination of Capoeira Angola within the Morro da Babilônia community. "Casa Ngoma" is a cultural and socio-educational project of Capoeira Angola, and other activities related to Afro-Brazilian culture, learning African and Afro-descendant history, literature, audiovisual production, instrument creation, and serves as a space for reflection and debate. This project was conceived and developed by Mestre Anastacio Marrom and his students through the purchase of land in the Babilônia community, where he also established his residence.
